HCA BOD Meets July 20, 2017. May Minutes Posted

Approved minutes for the Hillsboro Charter Academy Board of Directors’ May 18 meeting can be viewed here: 170518 Minutes. The BOD’s July meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsboro Old Stone School.

HCA Summer STEAM Camp Is Back! Sign Up Today!

HCA Summer STEAM Camp Signups are here!  

Check it out and find a camp to encourage Summer STEAM for your scholar(s)! Choose full day or half day (morning or afternoon).

New this year: The camps will be created and taught by HCA’s amazing teachers!

Hillsboro Charter Academy (HCA) is offering four weeks of summer STEAM fun with a different theme each week.  The morning will involve STEAM integrated activities with the afternoon being reserved for focusing on the “big A for Arts” giving a full enriching STEAM effect to finish out the day.

The fabulous teachers at HCA will be leading sessions each week to provide your camper with exciting and engaging activities around each theme.  

When: Full day 9 am-4 pm, Half day 9 am-12 pm or 1 pm-4 pm

Weekly Themes:

Week 1 June 19th “STEAMing up the Kitchen” (morning-led by Mrs. Kling): Kitchen Chemistry (afternoon-led by Ms. Schafer): Food For Thought: A in STEAM Literacy 

Week 2 June 26th: “Harry Potter STEAM Theme” (led by Mrs. Dalton)

Week 3 July 10th: “STEAM Survivor” (led by Ms. Meadows)

Week 4 July 17th: “How it Plays Out: The Making and Designing of a Play Through the Lens of STEAM” (led by Ms. Schafer)

Who: Children ages 6 and older (students in K-5 for the 2016-17 school year)  by the first day of camp. HCA Summer STEAM Camp is open to all students in Loudoun County!

It’s Auction Time! Celebrate And Support HCA May 5!

The Hillsboro Charter Academy PTO Auction is scheduled for Friday, May 5 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Old Stone School in Hillsboro. This much-anticipated fundraiser features amazing auction items including Disney passes, winery experiences, unbelievably adorable classroom projects handmade by HCA scholars and much more. The event is open to the public and all HCA supporters, friends and family are encouraged to attend this fabulous evening of fun. Tickets are $15 in advance. Click here to buy tickets!

HCA BOD Personnel Committee Agendas For 4/25 and 5/15

The HCA board of directors personnel committee is scheduled to meet in executive session Tuesday, April 25 and Monday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Stone School to discuss personnel issues including applications for the HCA principalship (4/25) and duties of HCA office staff (5/15).
